ORANGE COUNTY, FLORIDA: Ban the box enacted
Summary: On September 10, 2021, Orange County announced that individuals applying for jobs with the government will no longer need to disclose criminal convictions on an application. Orange County is in the process of revising its job application to remove the prior criminal conviction question. However, the question will not be eliminated for certain public safety positions, such as corrections officers or firefighters.

U.S. DISTRICT COURT MIDDLE DISTRICT OF FLORIDA: Settlement approved for class action alleging FCRA violation
Summary: In Lyttle v. Trulieve, a certified class of employees and applicants filed a claim against Defendant alleging they were fired or refused employment based on a consumer report that was obtained without permission by a third party contractor, Personal Security Concepts, LLC. The class further claimed that they were not provided notice, a copy of their report, or a summary of their rights. The parties recently settled the claims, however, the amount of the settlement has not been disclosed.
