Summary: Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf is set to sign a medical marijuana bill with explicit protection in the employment context. Sec. 2103(B)(1) states: "No employer may discharge, threaten, refuse to hire or otherwise discriminate or retaliate against an employee regarding an employee’s compensation, terms, conditions, location or privileges solely on the basis of such employee’s status as an individual who is certified to use medical marijuana.”

MISSOURI: Missouri governor signs Executive Order to “Ban the Box” in state employment
Summary: Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon signed Executive Order 16-04 which will “Ban the Box” for employment with the state by delaying questions regarding criminal history until later in the hiring process. The Governor’s Executive Order directs all departments, agencies, boards and commissions in the Executive Branch subject to the authority of the Governor to take all necessary action to amend initial employment applications by removing questions relating to an individual’s criminal history unless a criminal history would render an applicant specifically ineligible for the position.
