9/8 Update: India Lockdowns and Delays Continue While Some States Reopen

India has had local and statewide lockdowns in place to combat the spread of COVID-19. Many states have relaxed or ended their lockdowns, though others are extending both lockdowns and restrictions. Some states are announcing plans to reopen colleges and universities.

As a result of these emergency measures taken by Indian governments, the police suspended certain public services including criminal record inquiries. Local police checks are not currently available and will remain unavailable for the foreseeable future. Until the police resume normal operations, we will be conducting court record checks. We do not anticipate any delays to criminal record checks.

Restrictions remain concerning travel. Site visits are not currently possible in all areas.

There continue to be some delays to components including education and employment verifications. We are actively monitoring this work and will provide updates as they become available.
