ILLINOIS: Health Care Worker Background Check Act amended.
Summary: Effective July 31, 2019, SB 1965 amends the Health Care Worker Background Check Act to include trainees and those enrolled in training programs within the definition of “applicant” to whom the law applies. The Act will now also allow workforce intermediaries and organizations that provide pro bono legal services to request a background check and “initiate a fingerprint-based criminal history record check” under certain circumstances.

NEW HAMPSHIRE: New criminal background check requirements enacted.
Summary: Enacted on July 29, 2019 and retroactively effective on July 1, 2019, HB 637 was amended to require state police to maintain an electronic database of criminal history record information, which would be accessible to an individual or state agency to obtain public criminal history record information about applicants for employment. The law also removes the notarization requirements for requesting a criminal history record check for employment purposes.
