Beginning January 1, 2024, DOT-regulated employers, as mandated by 49 CFR Part 40, will be required to submit their annual drug and alcohol testing data via Login.gov. Login.gov is a secure sign in service used by the public to sign in to participating government agencies' systems. There is no charge or fee for using Login.gov.
Getting Started
DOT-regulated employers without a current Login.gov account will receive an email or letter, addressed to the Designated Employer Representative (DER) on file from DOT. This correspondence will contain a 32-digit code to enter on the Management Information System (MIS) website. Employers will be directed to the Login.gov website where they will create an account by verifying their email address, creating a password, and choosing an authentication method to secure their account.
Employers who already have a Login.gov account (for instance, when registering for the FMCSA Clearinghouse) can simply sign in to their account.
Important Notes
It is extremely important to register the Designated Employer Representative (DER) for your company and ensure information is safe guarded and accessible should that person leave.
Once in the MIS system, employers will enter drug and alcohol information the same way they always have.
