DOT approves use of electronic chain of custody forms

On April 13, 2015, the Department of Transportation published a final rule regarding the use of the electronic version of the Federal Drug Testing Custody and Control Form (eCCF).

This final rule effectively allows employers, collectors, laboratories and MROs to use eCCFs for DOT-regulated drug testing programs.

While the approval has been issued, Truescreen is currently working in conjunction with our laboratory partners to obtain certification from the Department of Health and Human Services’ National Laboratory Certification Program (NLCP) as this approval is necessary to begin using the eCCFs for DOT testing.

The labs we have established relationships and connections with, including LabCorp and Quest Diagnostics, anticipate obtaining this certification prior to year’s end. We will keep you informed as developments occur and we begin to implement the use of eCCFs for our customers that wish to utilize them.

If you have any questions, please contact your sales executive, account manager or our customer service team.
