Credit bureaus announce removal of all tax liens from consumer credit reports

Truescreen previously reported on the changes the three nationwide credit bureaus – TransUnion, Experian, and Equifax – were making to their reporting of public record data in consumer credit reports.

The previous changes, implemented July 1, 2017, were part of the National Consumer Assistance Plan's enhanced standards for public record reporting, and were expected to remove all civil judgment records and as much as 50 percent of tax liens from consumer credit reports.

The credit bureaus have now announced that, beginning April 16, 2018, they will remove all tax liens from consumer credit reports and cease reporting all tax lien data. Bankruptcy public record data will continue to be reported.
