NEW YORK CITY: Proposed law would prohibit pre-employment marijuana drug testing
Summary: Legislation has been proposed to prevent employers from testing prospective employees for marijuana usage prior to hiring. Exceptions would include law enforcement, positions requiring the operation of heavy machinery and those tied to a federal or state contract or grant, lifeguards, and emergency responders. The law also would not apply when drug testing is required by certain laws or regulations or under federal contracts.
