NEW YORK CITY, NY: New York City Council amends Salary Disclosure Law
Summary: On May 12, 2022, New York City Mayor signed Amendment Int. No. 134-A to the New York City Human Rights Law which will take effect on November 1, 2022. The law now requires employers to include salary ranges in all job postings for job openings and a job applicant could not bring an action against an employer for failure to disclosure salary ranges in its posting or advertisements. The new amendments will include employees who earn an hourly rate as well as those earning annual salaries. Only current employees can bring an action against an employer for failure to post a minimum and maximum hourly wage or annual salary.
