Court clerks will also not verify date of birth verbally on a court record or permit a search of records using date of birth as an identifier. Access to a full date of birth is often a minimum requirement to confirming court records as a match. The presentation of a signed release by the subject may circumvent this restriction and allow clerks to provide date of birth verification.
Please note that Michigan Statewide searches conducted through the Michigan State Police, which includes a fee, are not impacted by this update.
Some counties through the state, such as Ionia, Macomb, and Van Buren, have already begun implementing these procedures.
