The legislation was signed on June 22 and went into effect immediately.
This new legislation comes on the heels of a recent city ordinance which prohibits employers from inquiring into applicants' salary histories. That law is currently being challenged by the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Philadelphia in the federal court.
