7/28 Update: India Lockdowns Continue, Recent Flooding May Delay Searches

India has had local and statewide lockdowns in place to combat the spread of COVID-19. Many states have relaxed or ended their lockdowns, though restrictions still apply and there are some lockdowns still in force.

As a result of these emergency measures taken by Indian governments, the police have suspended certain public services including criminal record inquiries. Local police checks are not currently available and will remain unavailable for the foreseeable future. Until the police resume normal operations, we will be conducting court record checks. This should not cause delays.

Restrictions concerning travel remain. Site visits are not currently possible in all areas both because of these restrictions and the monsoon rains flooding western India. Businesses may still be operating in a limited capacity. There may continue to be some delays to components including education and employment checks. We are actively monitoring this work and will provide updates as they become available.
