Update Regarding Continuing Delays for Kansas County Court Searches

A network security incident in the Kansas court systems has taken county criminal searches offline throughout Kansas counties since mid-October; the courts are actively working on restoring the system before 2024.

Please note that the Kansas Supreme Court announced that they plan to restore electronic access to records and their information systems used by the Kansas district courts by the end of the year.

The Chief Justice has indicated that "[t]o help us prepare our recovery timeline, we sought input from cybersecurity incident recovery experts... While we believe our estimate is realistic, we must be prepared for fluctuations as we move forward with our plan."

Kansas statewide criminal searches through the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) have not been impacted by this issue.

We will provide additional updates on this matter as recovery attempts continue.
